Movie Recommendation for the Week!

The Movie Recommendation for the upcoming week is....

DayBreakers!!!

Well actually, this movie is coming out on Jan.8th but it is definitely something to look forward to.

The movie stars Ethan Hawke from Gattica and Training Day. It's 2017 and the undead (vampires) outnumber humans. The humans have been supplying the undead with blood but this supply is decreasing and therefore, the undead must do something to make up for this dwindling blood supply.

Here is a Trailer. Enjoy!

Movie Recommendation for the Week!

The Movie that you should look forward to seeing is....

Sherlock Holmes.

So far, it has a 69% rating on RottenTomatoes. It has gotten good reviews and any movie with Robert Downey Jr is worth watching. The movie is a mix of action and comedy. It portrays Sherlock Holmes in a different light by demonstrating his toughness as well as intelligence.

Check It Out. Here is the Trailer.

Book Recommendation: The Four Steps to Epiphany

For students thinking about starting a business or anyone else. This is a MUST read. It gives great advice about how to go about starting a business and evaluating your success along the way. It talks about the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) which is a way to demonstrate your business is viable without expending too much money to do so. Once, you have realized that your business is profitable after building the MVP, you can add on to that and continue to expand. The book is really good.

Skoolboy gives this 2 Thumbs Up!

Movie Recommendation for the Week!

Everyone needs to check out...

Lovely Bones!!!!

This movie has an interesting concept. The main character is killed and she observes her murderer and her family from Heaven. She helps her family solve the mystery of her murder. It sort of reminds me of that Robin Williams movie when he dies and tries to find his wife who committed suicide and wants to bring her back to Heaven. This movie is based on a book by Alice Sebold.

It has a middle of the road rating of 52% on Rotten Tomatoes. But, I think its worth a look.

Losing is Everything

What a lot of people do not realize is that starting a business or becoming a successful business person is about learning to fail over and over again before you succeed.

Here is a great article about how "Why Losing a B-school Competition is Better than Winning?" -huh? Yeah, it sounds counter-intuitive but try to keep an open mind about it.

Sprouter- Twitter for Entrepreneurs

This site was started by a female entrepreneur which I am sure makes our female readers very happy. Luckily, the site is for everyone to use. It is a way to stay connected to other entrepreneurs in a Twitter-like format where people can post things in 140 characters or less and people can respond. I am personally excited about this and will sign up and check out the environment for sure. I encourage you if you are thinking about starting a business to check out this site and see what opportunities may emerge.

Spotify- iTunes Killer?

Maybe?...but this is an interesting application that is not yet available in the U.S.

Here is an excerpt of its capabilities:

"Expected to launch stateside sometime in 2010, Spotify represents the next revolution in mobile music. Instead of purchasing and owning individual tracks, this subscription-based service lets you stream music to your mobile device. And unlike similar mobile music apps, Spotify lets you pick exact songs from a catalog of millions which instantly sync to your mobile device. It even works without an Internet connection. Spotify goes where iTunes has not, and makes music more of a web-based experience than something requiring disk space on physical hard drives. In other words, Spotify represents the future of mobile music and a threat which Apple will soon need to address."

"We Don't Cut Prisons. Why do We Cut Education?"

This is the case in California right now with their education system which will have to bear a 500 million dollar cut to education funding. Some students are struggling to even find classes for their major.

To read more about this, California hits new Low

How do you feel about this? California is not the only state cutting funding to education programs that will potentially eliminate certain majors altogether.
