How to 'bid on private tutor' on sKoolBoY?

This category is interesting and should be a new way for tutors to find prospective students to tutor and have a better way to advertise to millions of college students at one time. If you are planning on using this category, please read the following carefully: This is how you should setup this auction. First, make sure to set the auction starting bid as the hourly rate that you charge. Then, make sure you set a reserve price that matches the minimum amount of money that a student has to pay. For example, your hourly rate is $4/hr and you require a minimum of 6 hours of tutoring. Then, you would set a reserve bid of $24 because this is the minimum that a student would have to pay for. Also, if you do not have a minimum then you would not have to set a reserve price since it would match your starting bid. Next, make sure to set up an offer range. This is where the student will bid on what amount of hours they are seeking for tutoring. For example, you should set the offers starting at the minimum amount that has to be paid and then to the maximum that has to be paid based on the number of hours of tutoring that you offer. You could offer a minimum of 2 hours up to a maximum of 15 hours. Thus, you would need to set the offer range from $8 to $60 based on your hourly rate of $4/hr.

If you have any additional questions about using this category, email us at support@skoolboy.com.

Michael Beasley and the Heat

Move over Dwayne Wade, its time to recognize the scoring beast, Michael Beasley. Ok, I am just kidding, it is still Wade county but I am excited to see how this season will go even though we will not win a championship. Boston is still the team to beat. But Miami's future looks a little less dismal. Go Heat! Starting five, Mario Chalmers, Dwayne Wade, Udonis Haslem, Dorrell Wright and Michael Beasley. That's fire.

Where to Sell Your College Textbooks?

There are many ways you can do this, but some ways are better than others. I will breakdown the many different ways that students tend to sell or buy their textbooks.

1. College/University Bookstore

Some students opt to sell their textbooks back to the bookstore because they can get possibly fifty percent back for their book. This is not always true. Depending on the demand for that particular book, the bookstore may only give you back a small percentage of the total cost. At the same time, they will probably resell your book at the original purchase price or higher and you will be left with pocket change. This is not a smart way to buy/sell your textbooks. You are limiting yourself and being swindled and ripped by the bookstore.

2. Friends

Of Course, your Friend is important and you would do anything to help him/her out. But, guess what? Your friend probably wants your book for nothing or would pay very little for it. Depending on your financial situation, you may do this with little thought or are the type of person who is very giving. If you are the latter, then good for you. But, if you are the former, then you could use some extra money because college students need to eat, buy clothes, go out, etc. Therefore, you should probably reserve this option only if you are generous and want to help your friend or are financially secure and already get plenty of money from your parents.

3. Keep Them at Home to Collect Dust

Now, this is not very smart. First of all, your friend could have used that book or at least you could have sold it when it was in high demand and made a nice return on your initial investment. Unfortunately, by allowing the book to collect dust, it loses value and people don't want raggedy books or books that look aged. Even though it would be classified as used, some people may not want it. YOU SHOULD NEVER DO THIS.

4. Sell Online

This is the intelligent option. Because selling it online gives you the ability to participate in a large marketplace and gives your book a bigger audience. Think about it, when you go to the bookstore, they tell you what they think the book is worth. Your friend wants it for free, most likely. You sell it online and you allow a possibility of millions of students around the globe to view your textbook. Your $120 textbook can now sell for possible $85 or more depending on its condition. This is a 70% return on your initial investment in the textbook. The bookstore was offering 50% depending on demand for book and your friend was looking for flea market prices. Some of the online websites that allow students to sell their textbooks and other stuff include:

1. sKoolBoY- Sell Textbooks and Stuff for Free
2. Amazon
3. Half.com
4. Textbooks.com (This type of website and many others do exactly what the bookstore does by offering to pay for the book, which is not something you want.)

Remember, you don't want others do dictate the price of your book or decide whether it is worth this or that. We live in a free market and your book might be worth more or less to someone else. So why not give yourself the opportunity to test the market and get a very good return on your initial investment on the textbook.

How to Make a Successful E-commerce Website?

Let me tell you right now...If you are not willing to put in the work. You should stop reading this right now. Take some time to think about it. Ok, if you are ready to move forward. Let me start by saying that you should avoid dropshippers or at least do not depend on them to a great extent. Most dropshippers you will find on the web are just middlemen who are selling items from actual dropshippers and charging you a higher price despite the talk of wholesale prices and such. There is a better way. You should just sell products on your site that belong to other sites and when the item is purchased, you just buy it from that site and ship it through that site with the buyer's money. Hopefully, you make a profit. Remember: You don't want to be using your own money to pay for stuff. If you are one of those stubborn people, who wants to use dropshippers, then I have a solution for you to. It may not seem like much but this will save you a lot of headache and time. Anytime you are looking for a dropshipper, make sure you check out how much they are charging either to dropship the item or the shipping charges. You might find an item on a site that has an attractive price that is low enough for you to sell it for a profit but then you go to ship it and realize the dropshipper is charging something outrageous like $10 or $15 to ship an item such as a pendant or controller for Nintendo Wii.

Site suggestions:

If you are looking to sell electronics, go to a site called newegg.com.

Another similar site is deepdiscounts.com, which also sells cds, dvds, posters, and more.

Dropshipping websites to avoid include Megagoods.com, Dobba.com, Shopster, and the many others that appear when you search for dropshippers on the first page of Google search results.

There are many other website out there to choose from and you might think some of the ones I have suggested are not as good as others you have found but it is difficult to find good ones. Trust me, It took me years to find the two websites that I just mentioned because I was stuck trying to find a good dropshipper which is almost impossible to find.

If you already have items to sell, then I recommend making the title interesting by pointing out things such as "FREE SHIPPING" "BRAND NEW" "NEVER OPENED" etc. Make sure you are constantly updating your site with new items and elaborating on item descriptions so that Web Crawlers from sites like Google, Yahoo, or MSN pick up your site and improve your search engine listings organically. Make sure to offer prospective customers incentives to sign up and buy items from your site. To increase traffic to your site without spending money, make sure you type the meta keywords for the site that perfectly match the content of the site. Also, make sure to place links for your site on other sites so that Google and other search engines can easily find your site and improve your search engine listings. This improvement will not be immediate but will happen in good time (up to 6 months). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at support@skoolboy.com or visit my website sKoolBoY.com

Shaq disses Kobe in Rap

Why you gotta do that shaq? That's not cool...Poor Kobe...maybe next year. Shaq is going to retire soon but who knows maybe Kobe will have another chance. Spurs are getting older. Dallas has a new coach and the rest of the West is pretty mediocre except for Phoenix but they don't play defense. The only adversaries Kobe has to worry about is the Spurs, Rockets (Tracy can't get out of 1st round, so maybe not), Utah (they are dangerous, but they need more offensive fire power), and Phoenix. Everybody else pretty much is a flash in the pan or too young to win a championship. Denver is great offensively, maybe with defense they could, oh what am I thinking, they'll never play defense, silly me. Golden State is good, they need some more defensive intensity and they could be a threat. I really like watching them play, I actually wanted them to be the 8th seed. I bet if they had played LA in the first round, they could have beaten them and maybe the Spurs would have been playing Boston but that did not happen. Oh well, maybe next playoff season. If they did not trade Jason Richardson, they would have been there. What was management thinking? My home team Miami is going down the drain and Wade is a few steps closer to being traded to the Rockets probably in place of Tracy McGrady who can't get it done. Or he could go to Toronto, or Boston which would be sick if he was willing to take a pay cut. Nah, he's going to stay in Miami for now. Right now, I think I am going to root for Boston, maybe Miami in the East and Golden State in the West. Baron Davis is my homeboy.

I actually picked them to win it all. But I admit that I thought the Lakers could win since Boston struggled on the road in the previous playoff series. Did not happen so I'm gonna talk smack for days...

Go Celtics, Go Lakers- Who will Win?

To be honest, it seems this is the end of the road for the Lakers but it would be exciting if this series went seven games though. However, I don't think it will go 7. What do you think?

Sudoku and Jury Duty= $1 million dollars

A jury spent most of their time deliberating over Sudoku puzzles. I don't blame them. One of the Jurors said that this helped them concentrate during the boring drug trial. As a result, it costs taxpayers in Australia about $1 million dollars.

I'm Naked! Airport Scanners!

Security scanners which can see through passengers' clothing and reveal details of their body underneath are being installed in 10 US airports, the US Transportation Security Administration said Tuesday.

A random selection of travellers getting ready to board airplanes in Washington, New York's Kennedy, Los Angeles and other key hubs will be shut in the glass booths while a three-dimensional image is made of their body beneath their clothes.

The booths close around the passenger and emit "millimeter waves" that go through cloth to identify metal, plastics, ceramics, chemical materials and explosives, according to the TSA.

While it allows the security screeners -- looking at the images in a separate room -- to clearly see the passenger's sexual organs as well as other details of their bodies, the passenger's face is blurred, TSA said in a statement on its website.

Profanity and Auctions= Top Seller (j/k)

A word of advice: If you create an auction, make sure any of the words in your auction do not contain words of profanity. For example, one of the users had an auction named purple shoes and since we blacklisted the word "hoe" the auction converted the word to s#$@!s. Be careful how you word things.

How to Sell Effectively on sKoolBoY?

In order to be a good seller, make sure to be specific about item details and price the auction appropriately. An item that has an attractive starting bid plus photos of the item (personal photos of item are better-taken with your own digital camera) will have more visibility than other auctions and will likely get more bids. Second, make sure to create a title that reflects the item accurately such as new, used, and old. Also, you can make the auction more enticing if you include free Shipping in the title and are not charging shipping. If you are a college student, post the item on Facebook by using the "post" feature on the site. This will increase the visibility of the item even more and will likely be seen by other members on the site who are interested in purchasing your book or other item. Although these fees are optional, you can decide to use the homepage feature or category feature to display your auction on the site homepage and this will dramatically increase the visibility of your auction and invite more bids. In addition, take advantage of promotions that are occurring on the site (currently: Summer Fling Promotion). These promotions are there to waive optional fees such as homepage feature or category feature so that you can increase the visibility of your item to a greater degree for free. Furthermore, create your own free store on the site where you can list items in both the store and the website. With this feature, your items will have double the visibility of the site and increase your profitability as a result. All users can also participate in the "refer-a-friend" promotion that is constantly occurring and this makes members eligible for cash/prizes. Most importantly, make sure you deal with buyers in a professional manner and sell the item as advertised and ship the item in a timely manner. This will assure that your reputation is always positive and 100%. Your reputation is extremely important because potential buyers want to make sure they are dealing with a legitimate seller and not someone who is going to take their money. If you follow all of the above advice, you will be a very successful seller on this site.

Dude and His Food

Steak - It's hot when a dude orders steak. That said, everything in moderation. I went out a few times with a tattooed pseudo-stud who ordered steak compulsively. It was cute —until I realized he was doing Atkins. Just like you don't want to know when we feel fat, we don't want to know that you're on a fad diet.

Fish - I really like you! You're confident and comfortable in your own skin. You appreciate the finer things and you’re a little bit health-conscious. Again, just don't order it every time, or I’ll start thinking you’re uptight.

Pasta - Perfecto. Just please don't wear a bib. And if you order something boring like pasta primavera, own it. Say you're in the mood for something simple. Otherwise I might picture myself in Napa sipping a pinot while you’re reaching for a Michelob Light.

I have nothing else to say...

Hold the Cheese!!!

This story is hilarious. I can't believe the claims that are being made in this lawsuit. This is an old story but I thought it was worth blogging about.

A man, his mother and his friend are suing McDonald's for $10 million. The man bit into a hamburger and had a severe allergic reaction to the cheese. He says he ordered the burgers without cheese.
The Charleston Daily Mail reports that the man in his 20s, states that he clearly ordered 2 Quarter Pounders without cheese.

His mom and his friend became parties in the suit because they say they risked their lives rushing him to the hospital. The lawsuit claims that he was only moments away from death, by the time they got to the hospital.

"We're interested in seeing McDonald's take responsibility and change a systemic quality control problem that endangers the lives of up to 12 million Americans with allergies," said Timothy Houston, the Morgantown lawyer representing the plaintiffs.

The allergic man allegedly told a worker through the drive-thru speaker that he could not eat cheese, then told two more face to face at the window.

"By my count, he took at least five independent steps to make sure that thing had no cheese on it," Houston said. "And it did and almost cost him his life."

So then the 3 drove away and proceeded to eat the food in a darkened room.(They were going to watch a movie)

That was when he took a bite and immediately had a reaction. One of them called the McDonalds to let them know they had screwed up, but the call was cut short when the man's allergic reaction got worse.

Two managers called him later to make sure he was alright and apologize. McDonalds even offered to pay for half of the medical bills, which were about $700. After the lawyer got involved, they offered to pay them in full. They declined and the company was not offering anything else.

Wade being Traded to Bulls...Lol...(better not happen)

Supposedly, there is talk that Chicago wants to trade D-wade for their number 1 pick for Wade and Miami's number 2 Pick. Yeah, right! If they do this, the AAA will be so empty they might have to shrink it, so that it will seem that people are actually coming to the games. Stupid rumor, stupid trade. Miami should consider unloading Barron, J.will, and some other dead weight so that we can have more money to trade for better players.

The Soldier and the Nun

A soldier ran up to a nun. Out of breath he asked, 'Please, may I hide under your skirt. I'll explain later.'
The nun agreed. A moment later two Military Police ran up and asked, Sister, have you seen a soldier?'
The nun replied, 'He went that way.'
After the MP's ran off, the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said, 'I can't thank you enough Sister. You see, I don't want to go to Iraq .'
The nun said, 'I understand completely.'
The soldier added, 'I hope I'm not rude, but you have a great pair of legs!'
The nun replied, 'If you had looked a little higher, you would have seen a great pair of balls....I don't want to go to Iraq either.'
