Shop and Save the Environment- Go Captain Planet!

We are sad that this is the last business we have to highlight but life goes on. We will put out a list of honorable mentions tomorrow because there are just so many student businesses to talk about.

sKoolBoY presents the environmental oriented business named CarbonCart. This website allows you to buy items on their site through Amazon and buy carbon credits that can be used for some environmental purpose. Let's elaborate...

Founders: (The Team)

The students came up with the CarbonCart concept last year. The for-profit CarbonCart LLC business was created and is owned by Probus, 19, a business administration student from Sammamish; and Ryan Tilton, 19, a computer science student from Duvall. Joining them on the project are Laura Hanes, 19, a marketing student from Bonney Lake; and Kevin McFarland, 18, a student from Bellevue who is studying economics and classics.
They're drawing in part on Tilton's experience as an entrepreneur, which is already extensive despite his age. By his count, CarbonCart is his fifth venture. He started as a teenager selling audio subwoofers, and later tried portable hard drives. In addition, he ran an e-commerce site called stockthat.com, which provided some insights and lessons the students are now applying to CarbonCart"
Description: (How it Works)

CarbonCart.com is an eco-conscious e-commerce site carrying online retail giant Amazon.com's entire product inventory that allows consumers to carbon neutralize their internet shopping. By placing their orders for Amazon products through CarbonCart.com, consumers can purchase carbon credits to pay for renewable energy initiatives, reforestation or energy efficiency projects that offset the carbon dioxide generated in the shipping of their purchases. CarbonCart.com is an environmentally friendly way to shop online. Offering millions of products through Amazon.com, CarbonCart.com offsets 100% of the CO2 produced by each package it ships. At checkout, customers choose which type of carbon offset project they wish to support.

What we Think: This is a really cool website. We usually do not like to give our competitors a boost but since this site is so environmentally conscious and doing a great service to the earth, we will put aside our differences. The site uses Amazon so they have an extensive selection with customer reviews and detailed product information. It is really clean looking and great.

Go Green!
